NIGHT SCHOOL : PRINTED TEXTILES
WEEK ONE - Block & Making Marks - relief printing, lino & block. We will focus on mark making & texture - We will develop patterns quickly & intuitively and carve a reusable lino block inspired by tile design. Bring old clothes to print onto - we will experiment with placement print design and up cycling.
WEEK TWO - Expressive Mono - We will look at mono printing & creating singular one off prints and introduce COLOUR - we will print onto a T Shirt and create an expressive design…
Plus a Lecture - the print school and pot school will come together to listen to a short lecture from a practising artist talk about crossover points between art, design and craft in their practice over zoom.
WEEK THREE - Cut outs & Collage - You will bring an object to the studio and we will combine these to create a still life (I’m sure there will be lots of amazing pots to observe from the pottery school as well!) - we will create quick collages and develop into stencils to screen print onto pillow cases - fast and fun - we will focus on shape, colour & overprinting
WEEK FOUR - On Repeat & Screen Prep - This week we will revisit block printing. We will look at all over prints and create repeatable blocks… AND we will have some one on one time looking at work made in the previous weeks - I will show you how I prepare work digitally for screen printing. We will select some of your work to develop and send to the wonderful open access print studio @printclan who will expose you designs onto a screen for you to print with in week five…..
WEEK FIVE - Screen Finale & Grad Show - Print with your screens & maybe combine with block & cut out techniques - maybe combine our work to make a final collaborative print - this week will be fun & relaxed & include snacks & final show of work
